Fall in Gold Country

As the temperature starts to drop, you can feel it in the air... fall is coming to Gold Country. Thoughts turn to jack-o'-lanterns, apple or pumpkin pie, and the Thanksgiving turkey. Fall along Historic Hwy 49 rivals the best the east coast has to offer. A kaleidoscope of foliage, dogwood, maple, aspen and poplar paints the Mother Lode in every direction with flaming oranges, reds and yellows. The best spots to view the glorious fall colors along the length of Historic Hwy 49 are to numerous to show on this one page, so we have tried to offer a view select areas to visit. Since the time frame of the color evolution involved changes quickly, due to the prevailing temperatures, we suggest calling or visiting the website of the Chambers and Visitor Bureaus in the area you wish to visit before heading out... Oh yes, don't forget your camera!

We invite you to
email us photos (JPGs or GIFs) of your favorite Fall Colors Spot so we can share them on historichwy49.com.
